Cho's Karate College practices Tang Soo Do, an ancient Korean martial art that seeks balance between mind and body.

Tang Soo Do

Tang Soo Do is a martial art based on hard physical training that demands strict mental discipline. The "Do" of Tang Soo Do can be translated into English as "The Way." This means the process of seeking a higher and more perfect standard.

There are five main areas of Tang Soo Do methodology.

- Hyungs (formal exercises). The practice of set routines of self-defense movements.

- Basics. The practice of basic punching, blocking, kicking, and striking techniques in combination with other related movements necessary for their execution.

- Sparring. The intent is to gradually build in the student a fundamental ability and attitude relevant to self-defense.

- Application. This type of training simulates specific self-defense situations and then explores the possibilities of applying Tang Soo Do skills and abilities to those situations.

- Conditioning. Focus on enhancing one's abilities.
